1. You Will Never Feel Like Doing It


I believe we all can relate to this subject because there are so many crucial moments in our lives where we fail to make a decision. We are faced with 2 types of decisions and its based on what we want our how we feel. It’s a tug of war between these 2 types of decisions. Mel Robbins explains that we are only a few good decisions away from changing our whole entire lives. It starts with the first decision we make when we start our day. The sad thing is our first decision of the day is hitting the snooze button on the alarm clock. What I learned about Mel Robbins method was our decisions create a momentum through our days, weeks, months and years. The gap between the life we hate and want are the decisions we make everyday.

 

2. Your Brain Is Hard Wired To Protect You


Our brain is designed to kill anything that goes against comfort. This is why it’s so difficult to wake up from a warm bed or go to the gym when your favourite TV show is on. Mel Robbins also talks about how the brain confronts our disappointments and failure by responding through fear and primitive survival instincts. Anything that requires change in our lives will signal the brain to kill that idea if we don’t act on it.

3. The 5 Second Rule


This method is used by millions of people around the world to take action on the delayed desires of life. The definition of the 5-second rule by Mel Robbins is that we all have a small window to make a great decision before our brain kills it. This rule is designed to count backwards 5-4-3-2-1 and activate the pre-frontal cortex of your brain by over-riding your auto pilot habit patterns. It is not designed to count up because you can keep counting to 6-7 & 8 and hesitate in that crucial moment. Mel Robbins used this method when she was unemployed and broke at a time where she felt it was the lowest point in her life. She started using this concept to launch her out of bed like a rocket in the morning and then she used it for every decision she was faced with in her life. Mel Robbins went from facing bankruptcy to earning 7-figures. She went from facing a divorce to celebrating a 25-year marriage. Now she is sharing her life experiences with the world.

 

4. Our Life Is A Reflection Of Decisions


I have started applying what I learned from Mel Robbins method and I have used it to break some of the habit patterns I was unaware of. Make your first decision to launch yourself out of bed like a rocket and then use the 5-4-3-2-1 method to over-ride your habit patterns. This method is backed by science and it is known to break the habit connections in the brain.
